Just a reminder that today on CBC’s Definitely Not the Opera, I’m going to be telling a story about the time I showed up to school wearing what I’m wearing in the above photo. It’s the rule breaker episode. I believe my story is on last, which will be around 3:45 pm or 3:50 pm local time. Listen online if you’re not in a country that has CBC. LISTEN! They said they’ll give me the audio once it’s all done, so when I have my hands on it, I’ll try to post it to my website.
I must say. It was really nice to be back in a studio.
Good look, right?
I forgot to mention this article I wrote about Maximum Fun and Stop Podcasting Yourself. I’ve been busy writing lately. Phew.
Last night was my last “assignment” for Tourism Vancouver. (In quotes because it really doesn’t feel like work.) It was an event called Eat 1 Act 1, where you go out for dinner and then see a Push Festival play. I’m gonna write all about it for their blog.
Tristan was my guest.
He’s really fun to stare at hang out with.
It was the first time I’d been to the Irish Heather’s new location. It was decently tasty. Afterwords, I went to see Bonanza. I went in with zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t like anything like I’d seen before, which is a good thing for theater.
My friend Dante was in town for his 30th so I swung by there after but didn’t get any pictures. Can’t believe I’ve known him for 10 years! He’s top shelf.
This has been one of the busiest weeks of the year, so far, and I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. Boring, right?

Real quick

I’m about to go to bed but felt inspired to update my blog. A couple of exciting things are underway.
First, I’m gonna be on Definitely Not the Opera this weekend. Saturday. Between 2-4. Not sure the exact time. I’ll probably Twitter it when I know. Telling a story about the time I showed up to my Grade 3 picture day in a negligee.
Also, going to start working on a little something that I’m really excited about. But it’s too early to get into specifics. But I’ll say that it’s really exciting and I’m really excited. EXCITED!
Here are some pictures of lately…
It snowed the other day. I wish I had one of these. As in, a person to pull me around.
I went to this Sustainable Pairing thingy at the Aquarium last week. So much good wine and some decent food. I just loved being there at night. At one point I ducked out and hung with the dolphins…
Also, spent a little time with Lizzie’s belly.
Anyhow, check back here when you can and I’ll eventually reveal what’s going down. It’s a little too early to go into it, but I’m really excited. Did I mention that already?

What makes you emo?

I love being busy. I much prefer it to not having anything on the go. Not having anything on the go makes me question myself too much…because that’s all I do.
Last week Hilary Henegar and I went to the opening of SweaterLodge at the MOV. They obviously didn’t have a budget for canapes. (WHAT? I’m a part-time foodie. I’m allowed to judge.) We still had an amazing time.

Us being arty in front of a giant polarfleece sweater.
It’s such an ambitious idea. It takes a while to get over how bizarre it is but I love what the MOV is doing. It integrates community, which is what they’re all about. Keep doing your thing MOV. You’re certainly doing something right.
And keep giving us free drink tickets at all your openings.
Having a giant poster of Miles outside your store is a pretty good idea. Shhhh.
Tourism Vancouver hired me to write about this Secret Soiree event put on by Swallowtail and it was so much fun. Best of all was that Sarah was the bartender! And the wine was soooooo yummy. (Shit. Trying to avoid that word as a food writer. I’ll only use it if I’m talking to four-year-olds.)
I woke this guy up. He was a bit grouchy but wasn’t too bummed.
The gift shop at one of the places we visited was kind of dated.
And now for some videos.
My friend Scott Smith’s newest project, Skins, is airing tonight on MTV in the US and Movie Network in Canada. I’m just using this as an excuse to post that video he did of me and my buds a few years ago. (I had my hair and makeup done by a professional that night and was happy Scott was around to capture that. He’s talented.)
Also, my friend Louise Burns has a new video. And it’s so good! And I’m not just saying that!
(Wish I could figure out how to embed. Just click on the link, will ya?)
Louise Burns – What Do You Wanna Do? from Light Organ Records on Vimeo.
This video made me wonder who I’d want to go down in a plane with…
I think it would be Chris Jacot, for whom I am a muse. Lucky me to inspire such a talented mind. (He previewed something to me today that he’s working on and it got me really excited.)
Today is my one year anniversary of being a dog owner but I’m too tired of blogging to post a cute picture. Ok…I will. Oh, did you know that I started a blog for her too? I’m that girl.
Happy technically the saddest day of the year, y’all. Tell me about one good thing that happened…it would make me happy!

Happy new year, six days in. How’s everyone feeling? I’m feeling pretty sluggish to be honest, but it’s probably ’cause I’ve eaten a total of four piece of bread so far today.
Not much to report. The rest of my holidays were great.
Hung out with some girls and talked about the ethics of science.

Dutchie had a play day with her Internet sensation boytoy, Grampa. (Scroll down to #21)
Had a casual cuddle party with Miranda and Jeets.
Spent New Years with Lisa Joyce, who’s totally crazier than me but likes to debate otherwise. (We’re about even.)
She’s certainly more photogenic than I’ll ever be.
We went to check out Laugh Gallery, which proved to be just the kind of New Years party I wanted to attend. Laid back, good vibes in a venue that reminded me of an elementary school assembly.
A highlight of the night was watching one of my favourite comedians, Phil Hanley, perform. Always a treat.
Lucky for you, you get to relive the magic.
What else? Oh, got to take care of Dutchie’s elegant yet breathing-challenged sugardaddy, Jackson.
And I came across some giant sweetgrass. That’s about it.
