Holy smoly do I have good news for you. A little while ago, while I was co-organizing the most recent installment of Rain City Chronicles, I contacted Bob Kronbauer to be one of our speakers. He’s one of those guys who’s everywhere, with his hand in everything, all of which is inspiring and awesome. I totally admired his accomplishments and what he did in the community. After Rain City, we became friends and he showed an interest in my podcast. He asked me if I’d like to put it out through his website, Vancouver Is Awesome, and I didn’t really have to think about it.

So yeah, the People’s Program Project is now a part of Vancouver is Awesome. What that means is he’ll be setting up a link from his website with a write up by me about each episode. That write up will be different than the one I put up here. It also means, I’ll basically get a larger audience. Really, there was no reason for me not to pair with such a great website. I really believe in what Bob’s doing and I’m so honoured to be a part of it. I’ll also be involved in a bunch of VIA’s other projects, including this one, which is bound to be very good. So go.

So in this episode, I interview Bob about what it’s like to be someone who’s held down so many cool titles and how he got where he is today.

I also interview my dad, Avi Lev. I did this interview last year when I was in Toronto, dealing with some heavy shit. I was writing for Vice at the time and my dad didn’t quite get it. He’s considered to be one of the best editors in this country – Gemini award winning with an impressive resume (The Journal, The National, The Fifth Estate.) When I lucked into a journalism job, he was pretty proud of me. But when I decided to choose a different path, he didn’t quite understand why. So we had a chat about that. If I sound nervous, it’s because I am. I don’t think I respect anyone as much as I respect my dad. He’s really hard to impress too.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from my dad, it’s how to be an artist. That is what I am at my core and that is what he is at his core. It’s too bad he doesn’t let his artistic side shine more often.

What else? Oh, Rape Whistle Fan Club just finished editing our first video. I just watched the final cut. And then I watched it 10 more times. Holy shit, I am so impressed (with myself. And everyone involved.) It turned out 100% better than I could have imagined. I can’t wait to post it. It’s going to premier at Music Waste so get ready.

Oh, to follow up on my week away in solitary confinement…didn’t write my book. Instead, I wrote this, which I’m actually pretty pleased about. I think I learned that if it’s not in you, you can’t push it. I think that’s a valuable lesson, don’t you?
